The previous 2022 CRIS for the Registrar was a consolidated document for DCCEEW, the Registrar and the Offshore Infrastructure Regulator. The draft CRIS (linked below) separates out the cost recovery arrangements for the Registrar into a standalone CRIS.
In addition to outlining the temporary fee and levy relief, this CRIS also proposes a reduction in the research and demonstration licence application fee and annual licence levy. A reduction in the fixed base rate for the research and demonstration licence levy from $120,000 to $50,000 is proposed to come into effect after the temporary pause to reflect the expected level of effort required for research and demonstration licences. A reduction in the research and demonstration licence application fee from $300,000 to $50,000 is proposed to come into effect after the temporary reduction.
Noting the uncertainty associated with predicting future licensing levels and associated ongoing licence management activities, the Registrar’s cost recovery arrangements are proposed to be reviewed 12 months after finalisation of this CRIS.
We are asking for feedback on the proposed changes.
