On 25 November 2021, the Offshore Electricity Infrastructure Bill 2021 and two associated bills were passed by Parliament.
The bills enable the development of a new offshore electricity infrastructure regulatory regime in Commonwealth waters.
Once the legislation commences in mid–2022, NOPTA anticipates being appointed to the role of the Offshore Infrastructure Registrar with responsibility for licence assessments, compliance and administration.
